THE SPOTLIGHT ON CONCIERGE
MISHEL AGIUAR-PRADA

Working at the Roosevelt Hotel is not for the faint of heart, just ask Concierge Mishel Aguiar-Prada. From the sophisticated jet set crowd to the weary traveling nomad, from discerning locals to (if rumor holds true) the occasional blonde apparition, the diversity of guests is enough to keep any person on their toes.

Mishel began her experience in the hospitality industry just under two years ago at the age of 22. Having just graduated from the Master’s College in Valencia with a degree in Communications she made the move to Los Angeles. She found herself moving into a home by one of the most famous of locations, right of the Sunset Strip. As if that wasn’t cliché enough, she began working at the Roosevelt on Hollywood Boulevard right off of the walk of fame! All through a twist of fate of course, she came to the Roosevelt intending to spend a day indulging in their infamous pool scene and walked out with a job offer. Her first year there found her employed as a hotel VIP hostess, ensuring that every guest was warmly welcomed and was provided with personal service throughout their stay. This was the perfect precursor for her promotion as Concierge one year later.

Heralded as the birthplace of the Academy Awards and as a playground for such legends as Marilyn Monroe, Clark Gable and Carole Lombard, the Roosevelt is brimming with historical significance. Mishel began working there in 2005 right as the hotel underwent major renovations by acclaimed designer Dodd Mitchell. She loves being mixed into place where old Hollywood and young Hollywood entwine.

“The most rewarding part of my job is being able to provide that one suggestion that can totally make a person’s vacation or break the monotony of a business trip. Being located in such a commercial location it’s very easy to send guests down the beaten path to the standbys they’ve seen in the tabloids, but I love encouraging guests to visit that one boutique they can’t find at home, that sandwich shop that locals seem to not get enough of, or a bar that “you just have to know about” with the amazing jukebox. That’s why I love Elite Adventure tours, they share that same passion and I know guests will walk away with an unparallel experience to brag about when they get home.”
